Trisha Please Come Home | Advance Base
It is no secret that some of the best music being made today is coming out of Chicago. Mick Jenkins, Kanye West, Vic Mensa, among others all hail from Chi-town, but as that short list will contest, it seems like we only ever hear about Chicago's rappers (with the exception of our beloved Wilco). So yesterday, we took it upon ourselves to find out what else was coming out of the Chicago underground.
That is where I stumbled upon Owen Ashworth, better known as Advance Base. In alot of ways he paralells with Wilco, combining singer-songwriter minimalism but with a taste of electronic. His music is easy to get lost in, a quality that is arguably pretty hard to come by these days amidst all the computers and lights. His album A Shut-In's Prayer is certainly worth listening too as it plays with your heart strings and brings back memories of old. In anticipation for his new album Nephew in the Wild, out in August, he released "Trisha Please Come Home", a song too honest to ever forget. Listen to it here.
