#TBT: Something In The Way | Nirvana

Disclaimer: This is about to get personal.

Anyone who knows me knows that Kurt Cobain is my guy. Sometimes people even say I look like him...it's definitely because my (more often than not) dirty hair.

Anyone one who knows me also knows that this past week has been a weird and emotional one for me, and as a result, I've reverted back to what I know best, lashing/jamming out to the poster boy of angst and emotion, Kurt.

I think, and most would agree, that we can learn alot about ourselves through music - through its raw vulnerability - a characteristic Mr.Cobain embodied better than most.

For what it’s worth I think his story and his music can teach you a lot about being yourself and about unapologetically doing what you want to do. Ultimately, you’re the only one who has to live your life, no one else, so do what you want.

As I mindlessly wandered the internet in an emtional tailspin I stumbled across this quote and it really hit home. Take it from Kurt, being a young person is hard and trying to figure everything out at once just ain't possible. Just do you and the rest will come.

Read this quote, listen to this track, feel all the feels. Rant over.

“I like punk rock. I like girls with weird eyes. I like drugs. I like passion. I like things that are built well. I like innocence. I like and am grateful for the blue-collar worker whose existence allows artists to not have to work at menial jobs. I like killing gluttony. I like playing my cards wrong. I like various styles of music. I like making fun of musicians whom I feel plagiarize or offend music as art by exploiting their embarrassingly pathetic versions of their work. I like to write poetry. I like to ignore others’ poetry. I like vinyl. I like nature and animals. I like to be by myself. I like to feel guilty for being a white, American Male.”

- Kurt Cobain
