#TBT: Brother | Matt Corby
This. Song. Before I delve into a long-winded rant about it, it must first be said that Matt Corby (former runner-up of Australian Idol) is uber talented. The fact that someone who can write this kind of music won Australian Idol proves to us that they really know what's up in the music scene. His vocals get us every time (not to mention his looks).
"Brother" is one of those songs that you can sing along with no matter where you are, and, if you have a memory that links perfectly with the song, will always take you back to that moment. For us at EWM, we had the pleasure of attending the Byron Bay Blues Festival (I know....we're super lucky) where Matt Corby was performing. As Corby broke into "Brother", we looked over at one of our friends who was more than a bit intoxicated. She had found a man from a Scandinavian country and they looked like they had been married for 20 years. Wrapped in a loving embrace, they slow "danced" to this song, which is really quite a feat given it's upbeat chorus. Nonetheless, this man has gone down in EWM history known as "L'CHAIM!" because of our inability (and cultural insensitivity) to pronounce his Scandinavian name.
So, without further ado, L'CHAIM! and happy Throwback Thursday.
